I remain mirror-less, wifi-less and husband-less. Not all of this is bad. Life with only partial views of my body is kind of liberating. I rely on a (possibly inaccurate) mental picture that shows me looking quite fabulous, twinned with the sometimes harsh verdict of a four-year old, to tell me how old clothes sit on an older body. Today is a good day. Today I look like a princess. Apparently. The lack of wifi is bothering me much less than I thought it might. It’s kind of nice to plonk down on the couch and not feel like I should tidy up…

Some think of camping as character building, some as an endurance test, but I think it’s great. I have hazy childhood memories of setting up tents in monsoons of rain in France in the 1980’s (when equipment always seemed to let my folks down), and wine soaked memories from more recent long weekends with our own kids.  So, a little late in the season admittedly, but as promised to a few hardy all-weather sorts, here’s my guide to camping with young children. Be prepared: This doesn’t come as a shock to most parents, but being organised makes your camping trip way less…

So we’re back from a great two and a half weeks on the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast in Wales.  It was a lovely break in a whole load of ways that have nothing to do with sleep and relaxation. The three kids had a ball – with Spidey and Yoda becoming expert crab fishermen, and Woodie learning to roll.  The adult slaves that are their parents had a great time, managed a fair few beers and balked at the revelation that family days out in Ireland aren’t bad value afterall. In time for the holidays the amazing Colorine’s Wonderful is running a blog link on wonders of…

This Busy Mama is taking a ‘break’ *. *a word only a childless idiot would use to describe a family holiday with three young children.  After a whirlwind few months and a busy few weeks juggling the three kiddos while himself has been away, we’re off on our little family holiday. We’re going far enough to have an adventure, but not that far that too much maniacal organisation is needed. In my dreams… ..the children will learn to sleep in, sort out their own arguments, make breakfast and not whinge, ..the baby will come back tummy-time olympian, ..having hubby will…

I do like the sunshine. I really do. It’s lovely not having to pack three layers of clothing per child before leaving the house.  Nicer still that we can go wandering around every afternoon so the house is partially less trashed than normal.  And it’s also lovely that the kids are collapsed in little exhausted heaps by 8.30 every night. But… whole parts of my body denaturate at temperatures above 21 degrees. It’s kinda sticky hot. And I’m a little grumpy.  This is my pathetic justification for stepping in from the brilliantly lovely sunshine for long enough to write a…

Holidays are over. They were rainy but lovely. One upside about being back to work….endless photocopying! Many half written blog posts hang in the balance…soon to be finished!
