I’m lovin’ ‘the Lull’ – the days between Christmas and New Years, even better than the main events. There’s absolutely nothing that needs doing, nowhere we need to be and whole days can pass when nobody in the house gets properly dressed. The kids are loving it.  I’m slightly fearful that Himself will actually refuse to ever get dressed again but that’s literally next year’s battle. Herself is only mildly more co-operative – but only cos she has the smarts to want to show off her new pink monkey to anyone who’ll look. The Lego tower in the kitchen is…

There are precious few things that guarantee the parent’s of toddlers a few minutes silence, a solo trip to the loo – and maybe even a cup of tea. One toddler playing hairdresser to the other does it.  The rummaging of those little hands in a handbag and the discovery of mascara does it. Thankfully, in our house, painting has similar magical powers and – thankfully, causes less lasting damage.  Last week, on the strength of these little salt dough wonders I got a dinner made – and all for the price of washing the crafty table cloth and bunging…

This little trick got us past Halloween and through November without having endless discussions on the topic. But, there’s no fighting the tide, and this weekend the decorations and tree will go up. A few years back I bought a mega load…

After two babies in two years, a three week spell of coughing has put my pelvic floor to the test. It has failed. Miserably! By adult standards our Christmas was quiet. A never ending barrage of colds and doses transformed my plans for indulgence to two hot ports on New Year’s Eve!  From a toddler’s point of view (is there any other?!), there were whole days spent in pyjamas, too many new toys to count and afternoon movie parties. In otherwords, it was great! My three year old announced ‘I liked Christmas Mama. Can we have it again’.  I think that’s…

When we were children we used to always take a sneaky peak at our gifts when they were under the tree. It’s hardly the stuff of espionage but it was very exciting shaking and guessing what was inside – followed by maybe a little ripping at a corner (or perhaps wholesale cutting!) and re-taping it before getting caught! So in keeping with my little tradition of dishonesty here’s a little peak at some of the gifts that are under the tree….
