I remember a pre-kiddy weekend in Lisbon about 5 years ago. After an early flight we arrived in the city centre, dropped our bags at the lovely hotel, and went for our first wander. Peckish, we dropped into this really ordinary cake shop / cafe. There were no price or labels on the cakes. They spoke no English – we had barely cracked open the guidebook so we had literally no Portuguese. But happily, by way of lots of smiling and pointing, we managed to get a great assembly of cakes and much needed coffee. It was heaven! Though made…

My lovely friend Sarah just brought me back this really cute hand-sewing kit from New York. It’s a ‘Bird in Flight’ kit by Cynthia Green Studio and it makes a lovely little stuffed bird. The packet says its for kids over 8 so fingers crossed my  sewing skills are up to the task…

I must remember when the Olympics are on and I’m sitting on the couch at home, drinking a cup of tea and eating biscuits, that 10km is a fairly considerable distance to run! Fair play to the 40,000 ladies that ran or walked the Dublin Women’s Mini Marathon last Monday.  Lots of money was raised for charity – my one of choice being the Children’s Hospice at the Sunshine Home / Laura Lynn House. Have another biscuit … we earned it!

I found the recipe on a lovely blog… http://thegodscake.wordpress.com/2009/11/22/almond-fingers/#comment-594 It’s just… 200g ground almonds, 100g caster sugar, 1 zest of orange / a drop of orange…

I started this beautiful roses and daisies throw nearly a year ago… quite stupidly just after my daughter was born! It’s a slightly belated 40th wedding anniversary gift for my parents and I simply love it! Infact, when the time comes, I just may want to keep it… One of my favourite roses… Its from a beautiful book – Crocheted Throws and Wraps: 25 Throws, Wraps and Blankets to Crochet, which has quite a few amazing blankets I am dying to make. I’ve been using a variety of wools – mainly DK left overs that I have from other projects, and…
