Just the other day I was cleaning out the kids wardrobes and I came across this lovely little jacket I made for my daughter shortly after she was born.  This was one of the first things I made from a pattern and I can see about 15 mistakes that I made and never spotted at the time. But it has enormous sentimental value and just seeing it makes me remember the smell and snugglyness of my newborn baby girl.

I’ve made this jacket since from a friend’s baby girl using Debbie Bliss Eco in a lilac purple – but of course forgot to photograph it! It is so beautiful I wish I could make it again in a larger size but unfortunately the patterns is just in sizes up to 12 months.

The pattern was really simple and came from Tina Barrett’s beautiful book Natural Crochet for Babies and Toddlers. The ‘skirt’ is made of a Forget Me Not stitch with the upper torso and arms in simple double crochet.  The jacket is a matinee style so its a beautiful shape for a curled up baby.

Oh wow, I’m getting clucky just remembering….
