Well, with a bit of new year juggling going on around here I was always going to screw something up – and this was nearly it! The lovely crafty Sadhbh over at Where Wishes Come From is hosting a lovely new year link up called ’14 from 14′ to recap on a year of blogging. My contribution almost didn’t make it out of the ‘Drafts’ folder but at last, without further procrastination, delay or general faffing around, it is. The Busy Mama’s ’14 from ’14’. 1. This is my first Christmas decoration post of the year. It’s more than a little late in the season but I forgot I’d been so shoddy as I’ve been moonlighting over at The Nest where I contributed my Felt Garland Tutorials from last year and also these cool Paper Baubles to Emily’s wonderful Craft Advent. I’ve never been to New York. I imagine when I do I’ll fall completely in love with it, as I do most cities. These days when I imagine myself there, among all the famously fabulous places I’ll visit and food that I’ll eat, I see myself spending an entire afternoon in the wonderful Purl Soho craft and knitting shop. From my hours lounging (online) in wool and craft shops around the world, this is the one I think I lust after the most. Fabulous creations, lovely colours, crisp contemporary materials and a beautiful simplicity that takes my breath away. The Purl Soho blog – The Purl…

I got a mega treat last month when I was given a copy of the brand spanking new Book of Crafts from The Irish Countrywomen’s Association (ICA). As much as I love Pinterest and my collection of favourite crafty blogs, there’s something about a beautiful hardback craft book that I love. This book – the latest publication from the ICA, is no exception. This book has forty projects ranging from the traditional to the contemporary. It is divided into four sections – Stitch and Sew, Make and Wear, Store and Keep, and Celebrate. Each of the projects was submitted by…

This weekend the RDS Simmonscourt hosts the annual Knitting and Stitching Show. It’s basically like a crack den of craft for those of us that are craftily inclined – equally addictive but slightly better for your overall health. Myself and my Mum, an avid knitter, novice knitter and button-a-holic have made this an annual pilgrimage over the last few years. Last year I had a bump, but this year I was lugging the large boobie guzzler Woodie around while the other pair were off with their Granda.  Next year, I’ve promised myself empty arms. We got to the RDS about…
