Although I’m woeful at posting updates, our community crafting group – the Fairview / Marino Knitting & Crochet Circle, is continuing to meet up twice a month in St. Joseph’s Primary School in Fairview.  The dates for meetings this side of Christmas are posted below and for easier updates I’ve set up a Facebook Group page – here. The group offers a lovely and informal setting for anyone and everyone to knit or crochet, learning from each other and generally having a laugh while eating cake! I organise the group on a voluntary basis so it costs €4 which covers…

I got a mega treat last month when I was given a copy of the brand spanking new Book of Crafts from The Irish Countrywomen’s Association (ICA). As much as I love Pinterest and my collection of favourite crafty blogs, there’s something about a beautiful hardback craft book that I love. This book – the latest publication from the ICA, is no exception. This book has forty projects ranging from the traditional to the contemporary. It is divided into four sections – Stitch and Sew, Make and Wear, Store and Keep, and Celebrate. Each of the projects was submitted by…

This weekend the RDS Simmonscourt hosts the annual Knitting and Stitching Show. It’s basically like a crack den of craft for those of us that are craftily inclined – equally addictive but slightly better for your overall health. Myself and my Mum, an avid knitter, novice knitter and button-a-holic have made this an annual pilgrimage over the last few years. Last year I had a bump, but this year I was lugging the large boobie guzzler Woodie around while the other pair were off with their Granda.  Next year, I’ve promised myself empty arms. We got to the RDS about…

Christ on a bike. It’s just dawned on me that next week is mid-term which means a return to my merry trio of small mad people with a week of no school for Spidey. It promises to be a madly busy one as, sharp intake of breath, we’ve put our house up for sale. All this means cardboard boxes, bubble wrap and immaculate floors – all things that attract the mischievous and sticky hands of my kiddies. He he, courtesy of www.cafepress.ie So this Wednesday (22 October) is our last pre-mid term Crochet and Knitting night and one last stint of sanity,…

I’ve been a bit slack on the old crafty posts of late. It’s less a case of quiet hands and more a case of having enough energy to drag up three young monkeys and do some lovely making in front of the telly, but not quite enough to write about it.  That combined with my perpetual inability to finish things before starting three others are perfectly reasonable excuses in my book. Anyway as if anyone needed further proof that all things knitting and crochet are fantabulous, in pops an email from the brilliantly enthusiastic organisers of Unravel with a friendly request to…
